Barragan is new Americorps
The Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross is pleased to welcome Ed Barragan as a representative of
the Red Cross Safe Families AmeriCorps Program.
Barragan brings 27 years of experience with the City of Galesburg as a Police Officer, with 14 years as the
Neighborhood Watch program Coordinator and Instructor of the D.A.R.E. program in Galesburg Schools.
As an AmeriCorps member, Barragan will provide to diverse groups in underserved communities ongoing health,
safety, and disaster education while fostering the spirit of social responsibility and volunteerism. Barragan will
be providing programs such as; First-Aid for Little People, First Aid for Children Today (FACT), Basic Hygiene, Home
Alone and other age appropriate courses that would be of interest to non-profit organizations, community groups,
and educational institutions at no charge or at a nominal fee.

The Western Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross provides disaster education and response, emergency
