Hurricane Katrina
The American Red Cross has responded to hurricane Katrina with its' largest response ever.
At the Western Illinois Chapter that response has been no different. Chapter staff has been working
to ensure our efforts are comparable to the rest of the country. From our chapter we have already
sent 10 volunteers down to the relief operation.
Additionally fundraising has begun in many capacities.
Trainings have been set up in order to orientate new volunteers to Red Cross protocols so that they
can also be sent to the operation to help. If you are interested in volunteering for the operation,
making a donation, or providing any other assistance, please call the chapter at 344 1611. For up
to date information on the operation or any other Hurricane Katrina info please visit the
Red Cross Homepage as they can provide more up to date
information about the disaster. For information on local sites taking donations please click
here. If you
are interested in donating clothing, the Red Cross is not currently accepting that, however,
the First United Methodist Church & The Department of Human Services both are accepting clothing
donations at this time.
